Finally, I started that Blog | March 01, 2020

I spend a lot of time in life planning. I plan everything—literally, everything. This blog has been no different. If you’ve known me for a while, you’ve probably heard a remark or four about the day I would start my own blog.

For years, I’ve dabbled with one-off blog posts here and there. I never took it seriously, and I never realized that dream. One day, while “planning to blog one day”, I read about the journey another blogger took to start her fashion blog (I would shout out to her, but it’s been a while I can’t remember who it was). Her message really resonated with me: one day she decided to start a blog and the next day she did it. That was it.

This past year has been a huge year of growth and learning for me. I changed careers, I graduated from graduate school, I’ve moved a few times, and I married my best bud. All of those moments in life were a journey before they were ever a moment, and along the way, each time, I never felt perfectly ready, no matter how much planning went into it.

This picture was taken last fourth of July in our backyard. My dogs are "lovers of bandanas" (read: they love how excited I get when they wear bandanas).

On this Sunday morning, I reflected on what I wanted 2020 to look like for me, and how the years before this taught me so much about “planning” and “being ready”—and how it doesn’t quite work [perfectly] that way. As the new year kicked off, I consciously made the decision to be more present and positive, to engage other authentically and enthusiastically. It’s a mindset that started a bit before 2020 rolled around, but I’ve become more passionate about sharing as the days pass. I’ve come to really enjoy the community of consistent positivity and life-lesson sharing.

I started this blog (& the coming-soon-podcast) to share the conversations that I think are empowering, laced with life-lessons, and deserve to be heard. I want to create a community that encourages people to talk about their life and listen to others. The best ideas are built by experiencing and sharing.

So, finally, I started that blog—a platform of life anecdotes, friendly conversations, and some of everything—and I mean everything-- in between.

Thanks for reading the inaugural "Maggie, on life” blog!
